The Galloping Goose!

Tomorrow my daughter, Lisl, and I will head off for a week’s cycle trip on our own!  A first for us.  We will be B&Bing it, which will be a luxury.

First leg will be in from the ferry on Vancouver island to Victoria, and then on to Sooke, which has a rich history, and some interesting pot holes to swim in if the weather’s warm enough.  The path is called The Galloping Goose, and is a rails to trails stretch that used to be a popular vacation destination.

Then we plan to head to the Gulf Island, Galiano and maybe Pender.  We’ve booked an sunset kayak at Montague Provincial Park.

Wish us good weather and no flat tires!  We have the tools and the tubes, but not the practice using ’em.

Senaca said, “Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.”  and “Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living,” is Miriam Beard. We, Lisl and I, will see sights, talk, notice, pay attention, get good exercise, and return changed people! And when I ‘talk’ to you again, you will not be the same either!  Let us all celebrate being alive, wherever we are, and use all our senses to bring JOY into our lives. (More on that topic in a later post.)

“The candour and humour are truly engaging, the rhythm lively, and the stories make me want more!” Mog H.

“Your book reminds us that, though most, if not all, of our travails and triumphs may be personal and private, they are at least as valuable as any found in popular media.” Judith B.
