Expectations and Openings

In less than 10 hours I will be winging my way to the Queen Charlotte Islands, one of BC’s wild and grand places.  I’ve never been kayaking there, and that’s the good fortune I have for the next week. Green Coast Kayaking is the outfit, and we will be accompanied by a naturalist and a geologist.  Wow!

I titled this post Expectations, one of the essays in Becoming: Journeying Toward Authenticity. It has to do with how expectations can dampen and burden us, limit  or structure our experience.

Charlotte Joko Beck says, “There is no end to the opening up that is possible for a human being.”   As much as possible I will stay away from expectations, (good/poor sleep, wet/dry weather, easy/challenging paddling, camping…), and open up to what the week may offer!  More soon 🙂
